We’ve got a question on our mind and it’s the same one that the sample in ‘Guilty Party’ proposes - “what exactly is a Thunder Jackson?” Or should that be who is behind this fresh-out-the-box project? Sounding like a band, although the profile image suggests a duo, Thunder Jackson has released this insatiably catch piece of alternative-rock that traverses through pathways of programmed beats, electronic guitar twangs and reverb piano melodies. It’s a bouncing, vibrant, outwardly optimistic track that seems at odds with the lyrical content, “guilty party, dancing in the mess I made, guilty party, pushing everyone away.” Never letting the weight of self-destruction show, this underground pop banger is the kind of human, self-awareness we could do with more of. - HT
